A voice waking up emotions

Jazz vocalist Elena Poletti and her band in the "Fenster" at Weisweil: spontaneous and alive

WEISWEIL.   With much voice, charisma and a new band Elena Poletti performed in the "Fenster".  It was already the second concert of the italian jazz vocalist at Weisweil's cabaret. Elena Poletti has a great voice, dark, powerful and expressive. She is not only creating music but also presenting exciting entertainment on stage. In addition to that she knows how to catch the audience from the very beginning. Already with the first tune she had the full attention in the sold out club at Weisweil.
In her songs Elena Poletti tells stories, makes the listener participate and feel empathy. She interpretes music and lyrics, and she is always convincing in what she wants to say, no matter if in english, italian or without words, only with the expressiveness of her subtle voice.
The artist got through a classical singing education in Italy. After years as a background singer in studio and live projects she decided for a solo career with her own band. Contrary to the announcement she came to Weisweil with a new band. At the drums was Frank Bockius and at the piano Michael Sattler, both from Freiburg. With the acoustic bass Jean-Luc Miotti from Strassbourg placed his own accents. Miotti went beyond the mere rhythmical part typical for classical jazz and presented himself as a committed representative of modern jazz, where the bass has taken over a function as a soloist for a long time. Playing together Elena Poletti and her new band gave the impression of spontaneity on stage, which flavoured the carefully prepared program with even more live-feeling.
For her second concert in the "Fenster" Elena Poletti had mainly chosen gripping and heart-stirring songs, for example the ballads "The end of a love affair" and "Don't go to strangers". Emotions became almost tangible. The dense atmosphere was dispersed with swing and tunes like "One note samba", conveying joy of life and vividness already by the rhythm itself . In return the band earned much applause by the audience.
